  • Private Pilot Licence

  • With a private pilot licence, you can fly single engine, single pilot, non-high performance aircraft. You must be at least 17 years old and have a total of 45 hours. You will also be required to pass a written test and a flight test.

  • Recreational Pilot Permit

  • In order to meet the requirements of a recreational permit, you must be 16 years old, hold a category 4 medical, and have a total of 25 hours. You will also be required to pass a written test and a flight test.

  • Night Rating

  • Want to fly when it's dark? Then you'll need this rating. You'll need at least a private licence, 10 hours of instrument instruction and 10 hours of night training. There is no flight test or written test requirement, however, your instructor does have to recommend you for this rating.

  • Multi-engine Endorsement

  • There is no hourly requirement or written test for this rating, however, there is a flight test. The hours flown should be taken with a flight instructor and will vary from person to person. To receive this rating, you must first hold at least a private licence.

  • Mountain Check-out

  • This is neither a rating or an endorsement. However, if you have never flown through the mountains, you may want to learn a bit about it before trying it yourself. Calgary Flight Training Centre offers a check-out which includes a ground lesson and a flight.

  • Initial and Re-Current Aircraft Type Training

  • Want to learn to fly a different airplane? Or perhaps you haven't been up in avery long time. Our instructors are able to check you out on any of our aircraft and get you back up in the air!

  • Instrument Navigation and GPS

  • Calgary Flight Training Centre is offering a GPS course in January 2006! Learn how to do more than just hit "nearest" or "direct" and "enter."

  • Instrument Rating

  • In order to fly when the visibility is poor or the clouds are very low, you must obtain an instrument rating. You will need at least 40 hours of instrument time, and 50 hours of solo cross country time. Also required will be a flight test and a written test.
