To best serve their customers, airline operators are looking for people who are energized, skilled, customer-oriented, team players and leaders. Air crew candidates are no different. program partnership The Program is designed to meet the expectations of commercial airline operators for entry level pilots. Training features development of essential broad based workplace skills through Bow Valley College, and airline operations and flight / ground school training at the Calgary International Airport Campus through Calgary Flight Training and partner airlines. Upon completion the graduate pilot will receive his/her Commercial Pilot Licence with Multi-Engine and Instrument Ratings, and the Professional Pilot Diploma certifying proficiency for airline entry. PROGRAM CURRICULUM The "2001 Human Resource Study of Pilots in Canada" and subsequent follow-up review in 2003 prepared by HRDC and ATAC found there to be a "gap" in soft skill training of pilots in Canada. The Professional Pilot Program curriculum has been designed to not only develop well-trained aviators, but also to expand the professional competencies of students in the following areas:
Trainees in the classroom The Program offers you the option of completion over an 18 - 24 month period. You may begin at any time. The Bow Valley College approach is unique with emphasis on personal flexibility and accountability through at-home e-learning using the internet, and classroom and computer lab sessions. Airline business and operations courses will be provided by partner airline line pilots. We use the BAe Jetstream twin-engine commuter aircraft for ground training.
Introduction to the BAe Jetstream Flight training at the Calgary International Airport Campus, which is classified as "Class C" airspace, provides experience for a student at an early stage with air traffic control procedures at a large airport handling commercial operations. The focus of the Program is not only aviation and business training, we want you to be prepared to get that first job as a pilot. As a result you will receive coaching in career planning, networking, resume development, interviewing and airline simulator testing, commonly part of an airline interview. TRAINING FLEET Calgary Flight’s aircraft fleet provides you with flexibility and sophistication for your training program. The fleet includes Cessna 172 R/S models, Diamond Evolution DA20-C1s, the new Diamond Star DA40-180, and Piper PA23-250 Aztec. Check out our fleet section for detail.
QUALIFICATIONS To qualify for the Professional Pilot Diploma Program a candidate must meet the following standards.
FINANCIAL COMMITMENT The total cost of the Diploma Program is estimated at approximately $60,000 depending on options. There are a number of opportunities for financial assistance including government grants and student loans.
