Night Rating
If you are interested in flying in the dark then a night rating is for you.
Prerequisites
- Hold a valid private pilot license
- Must be 18 years of age
- Category 3 Medical
Course Requirements
(Based on minimum Transport Canada requirements)
- Minimum 20 hours flight time
- 15 hours dual instruction including:
- 2 hours cross country
- 10 hours instrument ( 5 hours will already have been obtained during Private Pilot training)
- 5 hours solo
- 15 hours dual instruction including:
Length of Course
- The night rating can take anywhere between 1-4 weeks to complete depending on whether the student is full-time or part-time
Privileges and Limitations
- The holder of a Commercial Pilot License may operate any Canadian registered single engine non-high performance aircraft during the night in VFR conditions
- Cannot be endorsed on a Recreational Pilot Permit
