Instructor Rating

Do you want to help fulfill the flying dreams of others? If so become a flight instructor.

Prerequisites

  • Hold a valid Commercial Pilot License
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Category 1 Medical

Course Requirements
(Based on minimum Transport Canada requirements)

  • 30 hours dual instruction including:
    • 5 hours instrument
  • 25 hours ground school
  • Passing grade on a Transport Canada written exam and flight test

Length of Course

  • The instructor rating can take anywhere between 2-6 months to complete depending on whether the student is full-time or part-time

Privileges and Limitations

  • The holder of a Class 4 instructor rating may teach students how to fly while under the supervision of a Class 1 or Class 2 instructor
